Trauma & PTSD

Are You Struggling with Trauma or PTSD?

What is Trauma and PTSD?

Did something happen and you feel stuck? Abuse? Divorce? An accident? Maybe you haven’t thought of what you went through as a trauma.

Trauma can occur when you experience or witness a stressful or violet event. Trauma can damage your sense of security and change how you view the world around you. It can trigger a bodily response of “fight, flight or freeze,” keeping many individuals in elevated levels of distress.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can occur after the trauma, making it extremely difficult for an individual to recover from the traumatic event. This condition can last months or years, bringing back flashbacks or unwanted memories of the events, avoidance of situations, anxiety, depression or self-harming behaviors.

How Can Therapy Help?

Therapy can begin the healing process. At Evergreen Therapy Center, our therapists offer a variety of specific approaches to help you process your trauma. Some of these techniques include cognitive processing therapy (CPT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
